One row per district per period — repeat the district name in each period. Don’t put periods in separate columns. Then set “Facet by” to that column.

  • “District” suffix is optional. Kampala and Kampala District both match.
  • Case and punctuation don’t matter. GULU, gulu, Gulu. all match Gulu District.
  • Cities are separate from districts. The 10 city features (Arua City, Gulu City, Mbarara City…) are distinct from their surrounding districts — write Arua City to colour the city, Arua to colour the district.
  • Values can be numbers or categories. A numeric column (e.g. 92.4) gets a colour gradient; a text column (e.g. Completed / Ongoing / Not started) gets one colour per group — pick the mode under “Fill mode”, or leave it on Auto.
  • Side-by-side maps need a long layout. To compare periods, groups or years, keep one row per district per group and put the group in its own column (2–5 distinct values) — a column of Jan–Mar / Apr–Jun / Jul–Sep, not one column per quarter. Choose it under “Facet by”; only eligible columns are listed.
  • Facets order themselves by date. Month, quarter and half-year names (Jan–Mar, Q2, H1 2025) run in calendar order, not alphabetical. Anything else sorts by number or name — drag the “Facet order” list to override.
  • After upload, the sidebar shows how many rows matched — any unmatched names are listed so you can fix typos.
